Our History & Future

Gibson sold the business to its current CEO Joe O’Brien. Under O’Brien’s leadership, the company grew by 357 percent over the next 20 years. The ability to successfully respond to corporations’ evolving needs, provide solutions that work, and offer a broad and valuable knowledge base have become the benchmarks of Gibson Engineering’s enduring success.
Gibson Engineering has grown steadily from a distributorship / manufacturers’ rep agency to an innovative and technically-advanced automation solutions provider with $16 million in annual sales serving nearly 2,400 companies throughout the New England region and outside the United States. The company was founded by William Gibson, who believed his team should be “a good strong right arm to the customer,” providing the right product for the job or designing and engineering the ideal solution.
